How To Recharge a Disposable Vape

February 27, 2023

More and more disposable vapes have a built-in battery that can be recharged, so you need not replace the disposables constantly. Whether you are new to disposable vapes or looking for battery safety tips, continue reading to learn how to recharge a disposable vape to extend the life span of your device.

Are All Disposable Vapes Rechargeable?

Most disposable vapes are rechargeable if they have a built-in charging port. Otherwise, they are non-rechargeable – coming with a higher-performance battery that lasts a maximum of 3000 puffs. Some vape smokers may apply some tricks to recharge vapes that don't have a charging port, for instance, by taking the external battery apart, charging, and returning it to extend the life of the vapes. Although it works to some extent, we don't recommend doing it because it's dangerous to recharge disposable vapes that aren’t designed for reusing or recharging, posing dangers such as overcharging and electrocution.

How To Recharge a Disposable Vape?

Recharging a disposable vape is a breeze. First, make sure your device is switched off, then get ready with a USB outlet and a micro-USB male-to-male cord and follow the steps below:

  1. Open the bottom cap from the rechargeable disposable vape.
  2. Plug the micro-USB male end into this USB port.
  3. Plug the other end into an available power source, such as your power bank or wall charger.
  4. Once connected, allow your disposable vape to charge for several hours until it's fully charged.

When Should You Recharge a Disposable Vape?

The LED light will alert you when the disposable vape runs out of power and needs a recharge. Most disposables can last between 3-5 days after recharging; however, it varies with your vaping habits and environmental factors, including temperature and humidity. It's recommended to give your disposable vape a full recharge to ensure the battery life lasts longer than expected.

Another indicator is the amount of vape produced. If the puff you inhale continues to reduce in size and taste, chances are the battery is low, and you may want to connect it to your charger immediately.

7 Must-know Vape Battery Safety Tips

  1. It's dangerous to recharge non-rechargeable disposable vapes. They aren’t designed to protect your battery from overcharging, which may cause overheating, short circuits, or electric shocks. If you really want to recharge vapes without a charging port, take precautions when you take the battery apart and make sure you place all the bits and pieces back into the vaping devices.

  2. Use the appropriate charger. We recommend using the charger that is included with your disposable vape. If not, an approved Android or Apple charger also work well. Plug a micro-USB male-to-male cord into the charging port of your vape, which is typically an Android charging interface. To recharge your disposable vape with an Apple charger, use a USB-C to micro USB charging cable instead.

  3. Don't overcharge a vape. Always keep an eye on how long each recharge session lasts – unplug your device when the LED indicator flashes green. Overcharging the battery could otherwise results in damaging your disposable vape, burning, or meltdown dangers.

  4. Replace with new coils. Upon long-term use, you may notice the vape battery isn't as long-lasting as before. The coils may have burnt out and become less capable of producing flavourful clouds. To get your vape running smoothly again, simply replace the burnt-out coils with new ones and fully recharge the disposable vape so you can enjoy each puff of your favourite vape juice.

  5. Unclog your cape cartridge. When your disposable vape doesn't produce enough vapor, there may be an airflow blockage. This could be pockets of e-liquid seeping in through the airway or lint getting stuck in certain areas of your vape pen, stopping the vape juice from flowing to the coil and being heated. Try using a thin object such as a needle or paperclip to remove whatever might clog up the airflow.

  6. Keep disposable vapes out of reach from kids. Not only are e-cigarettes generally very small and easy for children or pets to accidentally swallow, but the rechargeable batteries also pose potential risks if not handled properly. Avoid leaving the vapes unattended and falling into the hands of kids, which could result in domestic accidents such as explosions and chemical poisoning – if the cells are unprotected.

  7. Purchase rechargeable disposable vapes. Disposable vapes with a charging port are not only more environmentally friendly but also bring unparalleled convenience to your vaping experience. Whenever your vape pen is low on battery, simply plug the charging cable into the charging port at the base of your device, and it’ll be good to go. You can always recharge the disposable vape for optimal performance without worrying about running out of power.
